About Christine

The Studio is a wonderful workshop at the bottom of my garden  which I love to share with others who would like to come and learn new skills and enjoy sewing and crafting with others.

I am married to Richard and we have 4 children and 7 grandchildren and they continue to be my inspiration for

everything I do. We are part of a very large and close-knit family many of whom are very creative.

After leaving school at 16 I studied at the London College of Fashion, before starting up my own

business creating bespoke wedding dresses which I did for 13 years.

I later went on to become a teacher and have taught  GCSE and A-level Textiles at two local secondary schools for 18 years; during that time I helped many students gain places to study fashion related courses at universities across the country. I also had the opportunity to train Textile teachers. I love learning and sharing the skills I have developed over the years with people of all ages.

I love to learn new skills and I have skills in many areas. As well as dressmaking I also love millinery, embroidery, and a myriad of other arts and crafts.

Textiles is not just my job, it is my passion.  I love learning new skills but my real passion is for teaching and seeing my students getting as excited about textiles as I am. I know that The Studio will be an exciting workshop space for people of all ages.
